Our net­work of Ger­man film fes­ti­vals cam­paigns for important social and poli­ti­cal issues that are often negle­c­ted in the media. We are par­ti­cu­lar­ly proud to show films that initia­te dis­cus­sions and broa­den the view bey­ond natio­nal, cul­tu­ral and idea­li­stic borders.

dokKa – The Documentary Festival

For over ten years, dok­Ka – The Docu­men­ta­ry Fes­ti­val has been pre­sen­ting not only docu­men­ta­ry films but also audio docu­men­ta­ries in cine­mas, in a con­cept that is uni­que in Ger­ma­ny. It is open to ever­yo­ne with an inte­rest in docu­men­ta­ry sto­rytel­ling and focu­ses on cur­rent, soci­al­ly rele­vant issues, explo­ring them pri­ma­ri­ly through artis­tic means.

doxumentale

Laun­ched in 2024, dox­u­men­ta­le is Berlin’s annu­al fes­ti­val dedi­ca­ted to docu­men­ta­ry for­mats. It cham­pi­ons film, new media, non-fic­tion sto­rytel­ling, and pod­casts. In addi­ti­on to docu­men­ta­ry films, the pro­gram fea­tures inter­na­tio­nal­ly acclai­med media pro­jects, VR expe­ri­en­ces, and live readings.

LICHTER Filmfest Frankfurt International

The LICH­TER Film­fest Frank­furt Inter­na­tio­nal has been a cele­bra­ti­on of cine­ma sin­ce 2008. It con­nects the regi­on, its audi­en­ces, and its crea­ti­ve talents with guests from around the glo­be. By buil­ding bridges bet­ween film, artis­tic expres­si­on, and social dis­cour­se, LICH­TER stands out among Ger­man film festivals.

DOK.fest München

DOK.fest Mün­chen pres­ents high­lights of cur­rent inter­na­tio­nal docu­men­ta­ry film­ma­king – every year in the fes­ti­val month of May and throug­hout the year with a mul­ti-laye­red pro­gram­me – for the past 40 years. Sin­ce 2022, the fes­ti­val is held as a dual pro­gram­me: on the big screen in the cine­ma and on the digi­tal screen @home.

Kassel Dokfest

The Kas­sel Dok­fest is renow­ned and che­ris­hed for its infor­mal atmo­sphe­re, which every year brings tog­e­ther local audi­en­ces with film and media pro­fes­sio­nals from Ger­ma­ny, Euro­pe, and bey­ond. As an inter­na­tio­nal­ly ori­en­ted film and media fes­ti­val with a strong empha­sis on new media, it holds a uni­que place in the cul­tu­ral land­scape of Hesse.
