Our network of German film festivals campaigns for important social and political issues that are often neglected in the media. We are particularly proud to show films that initiate discussions and broaden the view beyond national, cultural and idealistic borders.

dokKa – The Documentary Festival

For over ten years, dokKa – The Documentary Festival has been presenting not only documentary films but also audio documentaries in cinemas, in a concept that is unique in Germany. It is open to everyone with an interest in documentary storytelling and focuses on current, socially relevant issues, exploring them primarily through artistic means.

doxumentale

Launched in 2024, doxumentale is Berlin’s annual festival dedicated to documentary formats. It champions film, new media, non-fiction storytelling, and podcasts. In addition to documentary films, the program features internationally acclaimed media projects, VR experiences, and live readings.

LICHTER Filmfest Frankfurt International

The LICHTER Filmfest Frankfurt International has been a celebration of cinema since 2008. It connects the region, its audiences, and its creative talents with guests from around the globe. By building bridges between film, artistic expression, and social discourse, LICHTER stands out among German film festivals.

DOK.fest München

DOK.fest München presents highlights of current international documentary filmmaking – every year in the festival month of May and throughout the year with a multi-layered programme – for the past 40 years. Since 2022, the festival is held as a dual programme: on the big screen in the cinema and on the digital screen @home.

Kassel Dokfest

The Kassel Dokfest is renowned and cherished for its informal atmosphere, which every year brings together local audiences with film and media professionals from Germany, Europe, and beyond. As an internationally oriented film and media festival with a strong emphasis on new media, it holds a unique place in the cultural landscape of Hesse.
