NATHAN FARB AND THE COLD WAR
Germany 2024 – Director(s) Nathaniel Knop – 112 min – Spoken languages: German, Russian, English
In 1977, New York photographer Nathan Farb pulled off a real coup: he took portraits of numerous people in Novosibirsk, Soviet Union, and smuggled his negatives through the Iron Curtain in a diplomatic bag. The photos went around the world. Some of them are now on display at MOMA. For the documentary, he is once again traveling to Siberia, this time together with Frankfurt’s Kinobrigada heroes Nathaniel Knop and Peter Rippl, with photo and film cameras in tow.
